The site is located near the Brahmaputra floodplains in North Guwahati. The plinth of this building is 5 feet high to prevent flood damage. The form of the house resembles a box with its front facade facing southwards, hence receiving direct sunlight. An energy efficient system is adopted; big window openings with brick jaali facades that act as intricate shading devices.
In collaboration with Earthling Architects , Ladakh
The creek is a retreat comprising of 12 earth chalets with private gardens and a yoga/meditation pavilion in the remote valley of nubra in Ladakh.
All the raw materials for the mud construction was picked from the site facing a creek on the southern side which in peak summers generates a stream of water which brings in a lot of mud and rubble and settles it around 500 metres from the site. Rammed earth, mud plaster, adobe blocks are made from these sand.
The stones collected are products of constant blasting of mountains carried out by the BRO ( border roads organisation ) to widen the roads
Situated in Sankar, Leh, Ladakh; this site offers a view towards a stream that flows heavily during the summer and a view of the monastery towards the south
